16 and Loving it

We are having many "FIRSTs" with a brand new 16 year old in our family. She had her first date this summer and now was so excited to get to go to her first HOMECOMING dance. We got a knock at the door one evening and opened it to find a bag of wrapped potatoes. No one was there...very mysterious. We started unwrapping the potatoes, but nothing. Then we noticed that some of the tips of the potatoes had been cut and then sealed with toothpics. Inside was letters to her homecoming dates name.......DOUGLAS. Everyone had fun with this one.

For her response we made funeral potatoes and she did a scavenger hunt for him. One clue was on a bush down a road by the church, then at the bottom of the pool, and finally his fridge.

Sensational Kicking

Devon was INTENSE this weekend at his soccer game. The poor guy has to play at 2:15pm and wear a black jersey. They just run their little hearts out. I think it was 104! He had more fans this weekend, with his cousins Natalie and Maddisen as well as Cooper being there. Thanks for your support guys....it helped that we bribed them with snowcones. Devon scored 2 goals!!!!!You were so fun to watch.

Yummy Fruit

With all the fruit on sale this month, what better time to try my skills at canning. After some inspriation from my cousin Janice on how easy it was to can raspberry jam, I gave it a whirl. Those jars were such a pretty red! I will try and forget how much sugar it takes to make these babies.

Of course you need fresh rolls to try the jam with. After all this cooking, I admit I was burnt out. Then Melissa tells me that her friend is selling peaches for their group and do I want some Utah peaches.

So, the following Monday, I canned 17 jars of peaches. This took some time and I missed having a buddy to chat with while I worked. Next time I will have to share the love and get someone to buy some peaches and can with me.
